Autodesk design style change

The automotive industry has experienced significant changes in recent years not only because of the need to produce advanced and environment-friendly vehicles, but part of making the backbone of a vehicle.

In spite of a complete vehicle, there is not a simple process of developing eye. Each process now uses advanced technology which ensures that the vehicle in accordance with certain standards and most importantly, meet the tastes of consumers.

Therefore, technology plays an important role in ensuring the vehicles produced really best coupled Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries into focus as the new automotive manufacturing industry.

A new focus on science and engineering including manufacturing workforce that can manage highly technical system and allows it to operate automatically.

According to Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI), total industry sales (TIV) is expected to increase to 700,000 units in 2015 in the country with two producers, Proton and Perodua expected to dominate the market with 52 percent.

How technology will transform the automotive industry?

According to Senior Industry Manager for Automotive Autodesk, Detlev Reicheneder, additive manufacturing with 3D printing technology has become a new trend compared to subtractive manufacturing involving cutting or drilling.

"Making the additive produces three-dimensional objects by adding layers," he said.

He said this new technology successfully changed the public's imagination and the manufacturing industry itself.

"Additive manufacturing technology developed rapidly over the past few years so that it can produce components made of metal, mixed fabrics, plastic and human tissue, the benefits of 3D printing, including the addition of lead, better quality and reduce waste, flexibility and cost savings, "he said.

He added that another evolution witnessed by the method of cooperation with the customers themselves known as 'crowdsourcing'.

"Stakeholders now interact directly with the company in the bilateral dialogue, especially on the Internet. The rising trend in the automotive industry that sum actually increase value through dialogue and innovative partnerships with consumers, "he said.

He said, from design and product development for new vehicle sales and service, new scenarios can be seen with multilateral cooperation among customers, suppliers, vendors, service and support organization.

"Another change in the automotive industry is automation systems involving sensor networks, artificial vision systems or just a few ways to make the program can be automated," he said.

According Reicheneder, smartphone with features like GPS or compass built can also be input devices for automation systems.

"For example, a thermometer inserted in the steamer espresso machine that measures the temperature of the milk mean the difference between a good cappuccino or not it is now very important," he said.

Commenting on the role of Autodesk and its contribution to the automotive industry, Reicheneder said, it's designed to change the method and technology trends driving the design is important, ensuring that customers have the best design tools and complete for the future
Autodesk digital prototyping solutions enable manufacturers and suppliers to create outstanding vehicles based tool for designing, simulating reflection and product of the design concept phase through the manufacturing process that allows more innovative products to market faster.

Meanwhile, Proton Holdings Bhd (Proton) to obtain the benefits of Digital Prototyping Autodesk technologies that propel the automotive design process, as well as produce a more pronounced identity design for its latest model.

It enables companies to produce design, visual and simulation techniques for the production of more efficient and cost effective.

Other advantages include providing power and flexibility required manufacturers to overcome business challenges most bitter in product development efforts.
Digital prototyping solution method has been used for the design of Proton's latest model as SUPRIMA S, Preve, Persona, Saga FLX, Persona, Satria Neo and Ariz.

It has proven to help the company save time production car design as much as 20 percent, especially for a new model that takes 18 to 24 months.

A total of 30 per cent is earmarked for the initial phase of design effort followed to make changes at a later phase which is generally a higher penalty.

Proton managed to reduce the time and cost scale development of new models by 65 percent through the production of Proton Preve launched in 2013.

Chief Designer PROTON, Azlan Othman, said the car company must be using the best technology and visual design for the vehicle before resulting in physical form.
